Reductions in inconveniences are not all easy to measure. The table below summarises those for which estimates are possible and raisonably quantifiable :
- noise (three meters from the sound sources),
- preservation of natural resources (gravel fill, treated gravel) and reduction of waste (excavated material),
- extraction of lead from sub-soil and recycling,
- sorting, collection and recycling or destruction of metals, paper and ordinary and special industrial waste,
- reduction in truck traffic and therefore :
- reduction in fuel consumption, therefore :
- reduction in emissions of noxious gases and particles.
