{"id":11096,"date":"2021-07-22T09:22:54","date_gmt":"2021-07-22T07:22:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sade-cgth.fr\/?p=11096"},"modified":"2021-12-16T19:13:33","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T18:13:33","slug":"the-jourdain-programme-explained","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sade-cgth.fr\/en\/blog\/geography\/africa-en\/the-jourdain-programme-explained\/","title":{"rendered":"The Jourdain programme explained"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1639678400892{margin-right: 20px !important;}&#8221;]<span style=\"color: #999999;\"><strong>Veolia and SADE have joined forces to provide an innovative and ethical solution to reusing treated wastewater to supply drinking water to districts in the department of Vend\u00e9e.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Circular water recovery programme<\/h2>\n<p>Its aim is threefold:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to provide an additional solution in areas with high demand in summer and where there is an imbalance in conventional resources,<\/li>\n<li>to operate a circular system of water use by sending treated wastewater to reservoirs rather than discharging it into the sea, and<\/li>\n<li>to validate the refining process to obtain very high-quality water and demonstrate its safety for the receiving environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rather than being discharged into the Atlantic Ocean, part of the wastewater will be recovered on leaving the Petit Plessis treatment plant in Sables-d\u2019Olonne and sent for further treatment in a refining plant.\u00a0 This refined water will then be transported 25 km to the Jaunay dam, where it will be released into a vegetated area. This water will then join the river and slowly flow into the Jaunay reservoir. The water ends its circuit in the Jaunay drinking-water production plant, which makes it available for consumption by households.<\/p>\n<h2>Veolia capitalises on Group synergy<\/h2>\n<p>The Vend\u00e9e Eau regional water authority selected Veolia (as part of a consortium with OTV and RVL) to design, construct and operate the refining plant.
