A complex worksite in a demanding environment!<\/p>\n<h2>Under high-voltage lines<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to numerous underground concessionary systems, this worksite combines, over a stretch measuring a little more than 60m, 2 RTE 225,000V overhead lines, 11m above the ground. In order to maintain a safe distance of 5m from the lines, the arms of the machines cannot extend more than 6m above the ground. This is a real limiter for the mechanical excavators being used (15T and 26T) and above all requires their drivers to always be on the alert.<\/p>\n<h2>Gabarit Sky Laser: a virtual ceiling<\/h2>\n<p>In order to secure the work by both machines and operators in this setting, the Gabarit Sky Laser system was installed on the worksite, in collaboration with works teams and the Health, Safety &amp; Working Conditions Committee.<\/p>\n<p>A laser is positioned at the top of a mast raised to the chosen safety height and makes a 360\u00b0 horizontal sweep. This system installs laser barriers in the form of a virtual ceiling. If these barriers are breached, alarms go off, alerting the operator that the safety area has been entered: an alarm sounds, and then a light flashes on both the control panel at the foot of the mast and a remote controller in the excavator.<\/p>\n<p>This solution, which serves to monitor perimeters and objects near structures that are deemed dangerous, is of course to be used in addition to traditional marking out around works areas.
