{"id":9298,"date":"2021-02-04T11:04:44","date_gmt":"2021-02-04T10:04:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sade-cgth.fr\/?p=9298"},"modified":"2021-06-02T11:12:45","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T09:12:45","slug":"alternative-energies-at-the-forefront","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sade-cgth.fr\/en\/blog\/geography\/africa-en\/alternative-energies-at-the-forefront\/","title":{"rendered":"Alternative energies at the forefront&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1622625103131{margin-right: 20px !important;}&#8221;]<span style=\"color: #999999;\"><strong>&#8230;At a test site in Limonest, a municipality in the M\u00e9tropole de Lyon.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Early this year, the Centre-East RD, in partnership with its customer Eau du Grand Lyon [Lyon water authority], led a test worksite in preparation for the future of our activities.<\/p>\n<h2>A growing alternative technical offer and a demanding customer<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The range of green equipment for public works has reached a level of maturity which enables us to seriously consider new leads for our activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The determination of M\u00e9tropole du Grand Lyon to move towards energy transition, in line with the regulation for Low Emission Zones, and the engagement of the Grand Lyon water authority have been major levers for this technical approach.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>A study presenting multiple challenges<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This test forms the first step in a comparative study of various alternative techniques for the execution of our works. The aim is to assess their impact:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Environmentally: carbon footprint, noise;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Socially: conditions of use, development of practices, perception of local residents;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financially: compliance with pace of work, operating and investment costs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This approach forms an integral part of SADE Group\u2019s CSR policy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>1 worksite, 3 techniques, 3 zones<\/h2>\n<p>The test was carried out on a project to renovate pipelines and 23 water supply branch connections. Half of the branch connections (12) were handled using a standard technique with thermal machinery, vehicles and materials. The other half (11) were carried out using alternative-energy machinery, vehicles and materials (electricity and natural gas). Lastly, the use of the trenchless technique by feedthrough directional drilling to pass under a departmental road was also studied.<\/p>\n<h2>Promising initial results<\/h2>\n<p>The results of this scientific study are currently being analysed and compiled. Initial findings suggest promising prospects for the use of green machinery on this type of project. The study indicates autonomy, reliability and quality of working conditions (noise levels). These advantages have won the support of the team for future developments of this type.<br \/>\nAnother meaningful gesture for the planet, signed and certified by SADE!<\/p>\n<h2>Hi-tech measures<\/h2>\n<p>The project used e-Lichens, autonomous sensors invented by a Grenoble-based start-up and supported by SADE Ing\u00e9nierie, which are simple to install and powered by solar panels. They enabled us to measure several environmental parameters (carbon emissions, noise levels, etc.) within and outside the perimeter of the worksite. Given that the reduction in overall noise levels is a key challenge for our activities, an additional measurement campaign was carried out by an external design office.[\/vc_column_text][vc_message style=&#8221;square&#8221; message_box_color=&#8221;white&#8221; icon_type=&#8221;entypo&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1622625142513{margin-top: 20px !important;margin-right: 40px !important;background-color: #008bcb !important;}&#8221; icon_entypo=&#8221;entypo-icon entypo-icon-info-circled&#8221;]<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Local residents involved in the survey<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">A qualitative survey among local residents, accessible via a QR code displayed on the worksite, was developed in association with the Performance Department.<\/span>[\/vc_message][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_message style=&#8221;square&#8221; message_box_color=&#8221;white&#8221; icon_type=&#8221;entypo&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1622625158493{margin-bottom: 35px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;background-color: #008bcb !important;border-bottom-color: #008bcb !important;border-bottom-style: solid !important;}&#8221; icon_entypo=&#8221;entypo-icon entypo-icon-info-circled&#8221;]<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Carbon 6<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">This simulation tool for the carbon footprint of a worksite, rolled out by SADE Ing\u00e9nierie, will enable a targeted assessment of the techniques in use here. The testing of several techniques on a single worksite also allows us to reduce the level of uncertainty for this form of calculation and to enhance the reliability of comparative results. The software was adapted to integrate electric and natural gas machinery.
