{"id":9622,"date":"2020-02-11T13:55:32","date_gmt":"2020-02-11T12:55:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sade-cgth.fr\/?p=9622"},"modified":"2021-05-27T14:23:37","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T12:23:37","slug":"sade-is-also-building-water-towers-in-senegal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sade-cgth.fr\/en\/blog\/geography\/africa-en\/sade-is-also-building-water-towers-in-senegal\/","title":{"rendered":"SADE is also building water towers in Senegal\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1620388400255{margin-right: 20px !important;}&#8221;]<span style=\"color: #999999;\"><strong>77 over the last 3 years and SADE has no plans on stopping any time soon!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>These simple, sturdy, 100 to 200m\u00b3, on average 20m-high water towers are designed to supply multiple rural communities in Senegal.<\/p>\n<p>They previously consumed surface water or water from shallow wells, which are both vectors of multiple diseases and becoming depleted due to the widespread lowering of water tables in this region of the Sahel.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the construction of these water towers, nearly 1,000km of PVC pipes have been laid, plus hundreds of livestock drinking troughs, standpipes for villagers and brackets for carts have been set up.<\/p>\n<p>For one of the recent PEPAM (Programme d\u2019Eau Potable et d\u2019Assainissement du Mill\u00e9naire, i.e. Millennium Drinking Water and Sanitation Programme) projects, a treatment phase was added to the traditional works.
