SADERTELEC, is constructing the 90 kV underground connection for the future Larivot bioenergy power plant

April 21, 2026

SADERTELEC, has been selected by EDF SEI Guyane to carry out the dual underground 90 kV cable circuit connection between the future Larivot bioenergy power plant – scheduled for commissioning at the end of 2026 – and the existing electricity grid serving the Cayenne area. This strategic project contributes to the development of the local energy mix while improving the security of electricity supply across the territory.

A strategic power artery

The contract covers 3.6 kilometres of dual underground 90 kV cable circuit connection between the interconnection and metering substation at the power plant and the Larivot cable sealing end tower, connecting to the existing overhead lines at Balata and Malouin.

Three construction phases over a ten-month period

The first phase, lasting eight months (December 2025 – July 2026), will consist of installing concrete-encased PVC ducting along the entire route. Two directional drilling operations of 115 m and 185 m respectively will be carried out at specific locations.

During the second phase of the works, scheduled for August 2026, the high-voltage cables shipped to French Guiana by EDF will be pulled through the ducting by SADERTELEC’s specialist teams.

The final phase will comprise cable jointing and termination works, followed by reinstatement of civil works.

Supporting local employment

To support the local economy, SADERTELEC has partnered with the French Guianese company RSG for the construction of 2.6 km of the 3.6 km of concrete-encased ducting required. The directional drilling works have been awarded to the Gendry Group, which is already present in French Guiana.

Final acceptance of the infrastructure and commissioning are scheduled for September 2026, marking another key milestone in the reinforcement of the French Guianese electricity grid.
