In Senegal, wrap-up on KMS 3 package 7!

The teams recently successfully completed pressure testing, after two years of hard work. In September 2013, after the Dakar region was hit by a serious water supply crisis, the Senegalese water authority launched a major programme of works to secure Dakar’s key water supply facilities. This included the KMS 3 project. Between August 2017 and December 2019, SADE Senegal built 32 of the 213 kilometres linking the new Keur Momar Sarr drinking water production plant to Dakar. In 1998, chemicals manufacturer Borealis was looking for a company capable of carrying out swage lining (now TubOcontact) work on its Sines site. SADE Special Works successfully saw this project through. A connection had been made, and over the following months this led to the creation of SADE’s branch in Portugal. SADE recently won its second deal using both microtunneling and traditional techniques for AyA (Instituto Costarricense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados). The project is called “Construcción de alcantarillado sanitario, colectores sur : desvío Maria Aguilar y extensión aserrí”. It will cost €13.6 million, is funded by the IADB (Inter-American Development Bank), and is set to take 18 months. It involves the installation of sewer mains: 1,660m (⌀ 600mm) using a microtunnel boring machine (MTBM), 915m (⌀ 1,200mm) using a MTBM, 4,533m in an open trench (⌀ from 100 to 1,200mm). Social project in Ecuador for Interagua

A mobile tanker-based drinking water supply centre in a disadvantaged area. In Guayaquil, the Monte Sinai district is home to poor people from all over the country. It has no water supply or wastewater treatment network. To distribute drinking water, Interagua is launching a so-called “social” project to create a mobile tanker-based drinking water supply centre.
